Man wanted in three Wake Co. bank robberies

WAKE COUNTY, N.C.

Authorities believe the suspect is responsible for at least three bank robberies since September 2011. The man has earned the name "No Bag Bandit" because instead of putting money in a bag, he carries away the stolen money in his hands.

The No Bag Bandit is believed to be connected to robberies at two Sun Trust Banks -- one on Creedmoor Road in Raleigh on Sept. 23, and another on Northwest Maynard Road in Cary on Nov. 25. The third bank police believe the man targeted is the Wells Fargo on Fifth Avenue in Garner on Jan. 19.

Police said the suspect is described as a white male about 40 years old. The man is believed to be 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighs about 180 pounds.

In surveillance photos, the man appears to have altered the color of his hair and beard before the robbery on Jan. 19.
