Police arrested 28-year old Christopher Childers Jan. 21 after paramedics were called to his Raleigh apartment to tend to the baby.
Police soon charged Childers with intentional child abuse. They said Childers shook the baby so hard that he caused brain damage. The boy clung to life for two weeks but died Sunday at WakeMed.
Childers is currently being held at the Wake County Jail and has been served with a new warrant for the murder of his son.
