Southpoint announces new shops

DURHAM

The Durham mall announced Saturday that two new retail stores and three new restaurants will open by the end of 2012.

Lululemon Athletica, which specializes in yoga-inspired athletic apparel, and Zumiez, which also specializes in action sports-related apparel, will soon open their doors to shoppers.

Chipotle Mexican Grill will bring its burrito chain to the Streets at Southpoint. Hungry shoppers will soon be able to stop in at Charley's Grilled Subs, which is known for its Philly steak sandwiches.

Frozia Frozen Yogurt also plans on opening a location at the mall this year.

The announcement of the new shops comes as the mall plans its 10th birthday bash. The mall will celebrate its first decade in business March 8.

"This is an exciting time for The Streets at Southpoint and our surrounding communities," said Patrick Anderson, senior general manager, The Streets at Southpoint. "We are pleased to announce these five new store openings and expect to announce even more great retailers coming on board in 2012."

New construction will be taking place throughout the year, with hopes of adding 15 new stores during the milestone anniversary.
