BMW flees from cops, crashes into two cars

Authorities in Fayetteville have arrested a man who was driving at a high rate of speed before he crashing into two vehicles Tuesday.

Police said they spotted a dark blue 2005 BWM speeding and driving erratically near the intersection of All American Freeway and Raeford around 9:45 a.m.

When officers tried to pull the car over, the driver fled from police going over 80 mph down Owen Drive. They said the car crossed the centerline several times before rear-ending a Ford Taurus at the intersection of MLK Freeway and Robeson Street. The impact caused the Ford to hit a Chevy pickup truck.

The driver of the BMW, 22-year-old Diego Leon Preciado, was arrested and charged with fleeing to elude, which is a felony.

The driver of the Ford, 64-year-old Wilma Goins, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy, 22-year-old Allen Cottrell, was not injured.

The incident is currently under investigation. Further details have not been released.
