Bank of America customers may soon be paying new fees.

Bank of America is testing new fees just months after abandoning proposed debit card fees.

The Charlotte-based bank plans to introduce a monthly fee of $6 to $9 for checking account customers.

Customers can avoid the penalty if they use online banking or use banking products, like mortgage loans or credit cards.

The fee is being tested in Arizona, Georgia and Massachusetts.

Last fall, backlash prompted Bank of America to drop a $5 monthly debit card fee.
