Man shot during struggle

DURHAM

Officers responded to a call about a shooting around 9:40 a.m. Sunday and found a 19-year-old man, who had been shot in the leg, and his friend in a vehicle at Alston Avenue and Dupree Street. The 19 year old was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the victim told them that he and his friend had met a man in a convenience store where the suspect offered to sell him a game system. The victim and his friend accompanied the suspect to the McDougald Terrace apartment complex on Lakeland Street where a second man armed with a gun approached him and demanded money.

The victim said he struggled with the armed suspect and the gun went off, wounding him in the leg.
