Eyewitnesses said the man was a contractor trying to seal the basement of a home on Appaloosa Trail when he became stuck.
About 30 rescuers used their hands, coffee cans and whatever they could find to dig the man out of the ditch. He was freed about 9:30 p.m.
The man's legs were pinned in the dirt when the wall collapsed.
He was not seriously hurt. However, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
