Police drop charge in murder

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Police said 36-year-old Lendell Rogers Graham is not responsible for the death of 22-year-old Stephen Bruno outside Club Ciroc on Raeford Road.

Instead, detectives had arrest warrants for 30-year-old Carlos R. Whitted of the 3500 block of Carlos Ave, Fayetteville.

The shooting outside the club happened just before 4 a.m. on a Sunday. Police found Bruno dead in the parking lot. A second shooting victim - 26-year-old Darrell Wilson - was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in a personal vehicle where he was treated and released.

Investigators were looking for Whitted. They said he has several indentifying features, including gunshot scars on his stomach and leg, plus several tattoos that include the words "Fayettenam" on a forearm, "Loved Ones," also on a forearm, and "Only the strong survive" on an upper arm.

Police said they plan to charge him with second-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting into an occupied property.

Anyone with information on Whitted's whereabouts should call detectives at (910) 549-7326 or CrimeStoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
