Seventh victim alleged in case against former teacher

CLAYTON, N.C.

The 29-year-old faces new charges of felony indecent liberties with child and felony sex offense with a student.

Detectives said the victim was a student at the school, but the incident allegedly happened at Canally's home between September 2008 and December 2008. The child was under the age of 16 at the time.

Detectives first arrested the former science teacher February 29 and have been searching for more alleged victims.

Canally worked as a teacher at Archer Lodge from August 2007 to July 27, 2009. All but one alleged victims were students at the school.

Canally resigned his teaching position in the summer of 2009 after the Johnston County School district began investigating a complaint against him. A district spokesperson told ABC11 last month that the complaint was not of a sexual nature, but did not elaborate.

Canally had another $200,000 added to his bond for a total of $2,830,000. He remains in the Johnston County Jail.

Police said the investigation remains active and they continue to search for more victims.
