LA Times reports 82nd soldiers posed with Afghan body parts

WASHINGTON

The newspaper posted a series of graphic images it said were taken in Afghanistan's Zabol province in February 2010 which depict U.S. troops posing with the bodies of suicide bombers.

CNN reported Gen. John Allen, the commander of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, "strongly condemned" photos.

In a statement, ISAF said the incident "represents a serious error in judgment by several soldiers who have acted out of ignorance and unfamiliarity with U.S. Army values."

The U.S. military is conducting an investigation into the photos, the statement said.
