Lobbyist loses license

Former North Carolina Home Builders Association lobbyist Jessica Hayes lost her license to lobby at the North Carolina General Assembly Monday.

The decision to pull Hayes's license by the Secretary of State's Office came after she was asked to resign by the Home Builders Association on Friday and did so.

A spokesperson for the Home Builders Association told ABC11 last week that Hayes was asked to step down after she admitted to being romantically involved with Charles Thomas, House Speaker Thom Tillis's chief of staff.

Thomas also handed in his resignation after the allegations became public.

A spokesman for Tillis said the relationship had no impact on legislation.
