Officials said Wednesday morning that the Durham Emergency Communications Center 911 telephone lines were temporarily out of service. Service was restored just before 9:30 a.m.
The cause of the problem wasn't clear. Officials said 911 calls were not getting through to emergency operators.
According to James Soukup, director of the Durham Emergency Communications Center, Frontier and Intrado officials were working to identify the source of the problem.
