The Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that deputies have arrested a kidnapping suspect and his alleged victim.

Jesse James Bridgers Jr., 27, was taken into custody at the Halifax Regional Medical Center.

According to investigators, Angel Williams told them Bridgers kidnapped her from the parking lot of the same hospital and forced her to drive to I-95 before attempting to cause the car to crash. Williams was able to get out of the car and flag down another vehicle for help.

Bridgers allegedly then attempted to run the Williams and the Good Samaritans down with William's car. They were able to get out of the way and Bridgers sped off.

Deputies charged Bridgers with assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, larceny of a motor vehicle and communicating threats.

Investigators also said Williams was with Bridgers at the hospital when he was arrested, and she allegedly didn't tell them he was there.

She was charged with felony harboring of a fugitive.

Deputies called the case a domestic violence situation.
