Woman dies after alleged hit-and-run

DURHAM

The incident happened shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Lawson Street and Alston Avenue.

The passengers in the car that was hit were taken to Duke Hospital.

One of those passengers, Angela Gray, was initally listed in critical condition while the other, Takieya Sessoms, was released after being treated for a broken hand.

Duke Hospital confirmed Sunday evening that Gray died from her injuries.

Officers located the driver of the alleged hit-and-run shortly after the wreck.

Twenty-three-year-old Miguel Cruz-Castillo was charged with a DWI and felony hit-and-run.

There was no word on whether his charges were expected to be upgraded in light of Gray's death.
