Rise in motorcycle thefts, city warns

FAYETTEVILLE

Authorities said that as the weather becomes more favorable for riding conditions, thieves are also ready to take advantage.

The majority of thefts have been at apartment complexes where motorcycles have been left unsecured in the open.

Officials said van and truck thefts have also been associated with the stolen motorcycles.

The Fayetteville Police Department is advising residents to secure their vehicles in an effort to prevent the theft and/or breaking and entering. They say if anyone observes anything that appears to be suspicious, to call Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
