Cumberland County approves three-dog limit

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Commissioners unanimously approved a new animal control ordinance Monday night, that limits the number of dogs an owner can have at a single dwelling home to three. There is a two dog limit for apartments.

Resident complaints about barking dogs and dogs running lose prompted county officials to re-write the county dog laws.

The new ordinance gives animal control officers the power to seize a dog after three citations.

Veterinarians would also be required to collect a dog license fee when an animal gets a rabies shot.

The new ordinance takes effect July 1.
