Deputies reported the 16-month-old boy was found just after 9:30 a.m. inside a home in the 2700 block of Edwards Avenue.
Officers went to the house after a 911 call came in from someone reporting the child was unresponsive - possibly due to a drowning.
An autopsy was planned to determine the cause of death.
"We are handling it as a child death investigation. Right now, we don't know exactly how this child died. We are expecting a report from the medical examiner's office within at least the next 48 hours. And then we'll know where to go from there," explained Sheriff's Office spokesperson Debbie Tanna.
