Detectives said 47-year-old Kimberly Watkins, of 215 Gillespie Street, had a Facebook page under an assumed name, "K.T. Heath."
Sex offenders in North Carolina aren't allowed to have social networking websites like Facebook.
Police said Watkins said she understood she could be arrested for having a Facebook account but still wanted to have contact with people and play games.
Watkins was released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
