Authorities in Durham are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy.

On Sunday around 9 p.m., police were called to a home in the 3300 block of C View Street in southern Durham. When they arrived, they found the teenager dead inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers also found two guns that had been reported stolen Saturday inside the home.

Investigators following up on that burglary, charged 17-year-old Jamond Alston with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alston was placed in Durham County Jail under a $50,000 bond. He was not charged in connection with Sunday's shooting.

Authorities said investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding that incident.
