One arrested in sweepstakes cafe robbery, 2nd sought

FAYETTEVILLE

The robbery happened around 6:30 a.m. on June 20 at Little Vegas in the 2800 block of Owen Drive.

Police said two suspects entered the business, displayed handguns, assaulted an employee and a customer, took an undisclosed amount of money from the business, and then stole a vehicle belonging to the customer when they left the scene. The vehicle was later recovered.

On Thursday, Fayetteville Police arrested 25-year-old Lonnel McRae after a brief foot chase.

McRae has been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of conspiracy, and two counts of second-degree kidnapping. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $81,500 bond.

Detectives are still looking for the second suspect, 27-year-old Gregory Burgess of Fayetteville. A warrant was issued last week for his arrest.
