Durham police investigate two overnight shootings

Durham police are investigating two shootings that happened less than a mile apart within hours of one another.

Police said a man was shot in the parking lot of the Econo Lodge on NC Hwy 55 just after 11 p.m. Friday night. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to Duke Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second shooting happened around 2:16 a.m. Saturday morning in the parking lot of another Durham hotel. According to police, a victim was shot in the face at the Studio Plus on Hwy 54. That victim was taken to Duke Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not made any arrests in either shooting. Anyone with information in either incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
