Romney cancels Morrisville visit

MORRISVILLE, N.C.

The Morrisville police chief told ABC11 that the Secret Service called to tell him Romney would not be stopping in the city.

Romney was supposed to visit Smokey's BBQ Shack Sunday, after making stops in Mooresville and High Point. Romney will still make the other two stops in North Carolina and will be accompanied by running mate Rep. Paul Ryan. They will attend a Victory rally at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, followed by an event at Absolute Style in High Point.

The two will then fly to Wisconsin to hold a homecoming rally in Ryan's home state. Romney's campaign bus will continue on to Morrisville where Romney's son, Matt, and Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory will speak.

The Republican presidential candidate introduced Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his vice presidential running mate on Saturday.
