Wake County softball coach arrested

RALEIGH

Raymond Green, 41, made a court appearance at the Wake County Courthouse Friday afternoon where he faced a judge for the first time.

He is charged with nine counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Green Thursday.

The sheriff's office said he was a girls' softball coach for several leagues in Wake County. He spent three years as a coach with Raleigh's Parks and Recreation Department. A spokesperson said Green was not active this year.

ABC11 has also learned that he is married and the father of three daughters.

"Right now obviously this family is in shock," said attorney Bill Young. "He's a 41-year old-man with not a speck on his criminal record. We're dealing with, on a very triage basis, trying to gather information about the situation."

Green's bond was initially set to $500,000 and then dropped to $100,000.

If he posts bond, Green was ordered not to have contact with current or previous athletes that he coached.

The sheriff's office continues investigating.

Anyone with information on the case, should give them a call.
