The accident happened on US301 South near Rainbow Lane, but officials are not sure when it occurred. Police do not know what type of vehicle hit the person.
A passing motorist discovered a body in a ditch around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Officials believe the person may have been hit and killed overnight and left in the ditch.
Officials have not released the victim's name.
