Cab driver shot in Sanford

SANFORD, N.C.

Officers said they were called to the 800 block of Spring Lane just after 9 p.m. for the first shooting.

Cab driver Darcy Perry said he picked up two men on Grant Street and one of them pulled out a pistol inside the cab and demanded money.

Perry tried to get out of the vehicle and was shot in the foot and ankle area of both legs.

Just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday, police were called to the 100 block of Austin Street. Twenty-one-year-old Jamil McLean said a man demanding money shot him in the upper leg.

Police said it does not appear the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sanford Police Department.
