Two officers injured during arrest attempt

Two Durham police officers were injured early Friday morning while trying to make an arrest.

Two Durham police officers were injured early Friday morning while trying to make an arrest.

It happened around 4 a.m. as the officers confronted a man who allegedly broke into some cars in an apartment complex parking lot off White Pine Drive.

Authorities said the suspect was inside a vehicle when they arrived and the officers tried to take him into custody a struggle ensued. One officer was cut on his face, while the other suffered a sprained shoulder.

Both officers were treated at the hospital and later released.

The suspect, 17-year-old Dexter Pride, was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, three counts of larceny and two counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer.
