Power restored in downtown Raleigh

Progress Energy said Monday that about 12,400 customers in the downtown Raleigh area were temporarily without power after two electric substations shut down.

Crews were working on one of the substations when something happened to trigger safety mechanisms.

Power was restored by 12:15 p.m.
