Detectives said Ayed Alsaiti died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Sunday night following an ATV accident.
The accident happened while Alsaiti and his family were visiting friends at a home on Barbour Lake Road in Hope Mills.

According to authorities, Alsaiti and another child were riding on the ATV when the driver lost control of the vehicle and Alsaiti was fatally injured. He was not wearing a helmet.
Alsaiti's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
Alsaiti was a sixth grader at South View Middle School. Grief counselors were at the school Monday.
