Robbery victim receives outpouring of support from ABC11 viewers

SPRING LAKE, N.C.

Heidi Wolfe, of the 100 block of Spring Avenue Extension in Spring Lake, told detectives she awoke to find a man with a hand over her mouth and a knife to her throat.

Wolfe said the thief stole her money, but not her faith.

"I don't know what I need to learn out of this, but I know God has his hands around me," said Wolfe.

Wolfe said the young thief demanded money. He took $700, which was all of her social security money for the month. Throughout the ordeal, Wolfe said she didn't panic.

"If I would have screamed or hollered, he would have lost it," said Wolfe. "I was just calm."

Wolfe said she has lived in the same home just outside Spring Lake for nearly 30 years. She said her home has been broken into before. The last time the thief broke the lock and got in through the back door. This time, the robber came in through the bathroom window.

After taking her money, Wolfe said the thief just walked away.

While she doesn't know how make ends meet this month, Wolfe isn't worried.

"I know God will take care of me," she said.

So far, sheriff's deputies have no suspects. The only description Wolfe had of the suspect was that he was a young man wearing a dark hoodie.
