Current and former service members will focus upon the recent return of military personnel from the war in Iraq during this year's Veterans Day ceremony at North Carolina's capital city.

Gov. Beverly Perdue spoke at Saturday morning's official state ceremony on the old capitol grounds in downtown Raleigh.

The commander of the state's American Legion, a U.S. deputy surgeon general and a one-star Army general at the Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg were also in attendance.

Several hundred people lined the downtown Raleigh streets as a parade preceded Veterans Day ceremony.

ABC11's Larry Stogner served as the master of ceremonies.
