The boy was swimming with friends at the Spring Forest Apartment Homes in the 5000 block of Sedgewick Drive just after 5 p.m. Friday.

"He was jumping and spinning just like all the other kids were doing," said poolgoer Tony Maxwell.
Maxwell was hanging out with his children all day at Spring Forest Apartments' pool. He left for a quick trip to the store and when he came back he learned that a boy he saw earlier swimming and playing had gone under.
"The guy I spoke to who was in the pool with us said he went over to the eight feet and apparently I guess that's when it happened," said Maxwell.
Family members later identified the dead child as 8-year-old Lamont Derrick-Ezekiel "Bud" Fields.
Friends said the family was having difficulty raising funds to bury the boy. They asked for financial assistance to be sent to:
