Angier Police Chief Bobby Hallman said Monday that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations is looking into a fatal shooting involving his officers.

The incident began around 11:30 p.m. Sunday when the Angier Police Department and the Harnett County Sheriff's Office went to a domestic disturbance call at 150 Coats Circle.

When they got there, Hallman said a struggle broke out between officers and 22-year-old Jose Espindola of 45 Crestview Drive.

Hallman said shots were fired and Espindola was fatally wounded.

The Angier officer involved has been placed on routine administrative leave while the SBI investigates. No other information about the shooting was given.

Hallman said Espindola had outstanding warrants for his arrest on charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping, assault on a child under 12, assault on female, communicating threats and injury to real property in Harnett County.
