Governor-elect Pat McCrory named a chief of staff and his picks for two key cabinet posts at a news conference Thursday.

It was his first official news conference since the one he held the week he was elected North Carolina's next chief executive.

McCrory gave the nod to Former Durham City Council member Thomas Stith - who's already heading his transition team - to be chief of staff.

Dr. Aldona Wos will head the Department of Health and Human Services. John Skvarla is the new head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

McCrory will get sworn in to office Jan. 5 and hopes to have his cabinet secretaries and other top leaders all in place before the Legislature convenes Jan. 9.
