It happened on Moore's Mill Road, off of U.S. Highway 501 in northern Durham.
Police say the driver somehow lost control and flipped upside down in the creek.
The driver and his passenger were able to climb out.
They walked to a nearby home for help and when the homeowner didn't answer the door they kept going.
Authorities found them two hours later walking along the road, wet and cold.
