Two arrested in New Year's Eve fatal shooting

Authorities in Johnston County have arrested two men in connection with a shooting that killed a teenager and injured two men Tuesday.

Around 2 a.m., the Johnston County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting at the American Legion Post 71 at 1300 Old U.S. Hwy 70 W. in Clayton.

One of the men, 19-year-old Daniel Anthony Laboy Jr., was taken by friends to Johnston Medical Center in Clayton where he was pronounced dead.

Jimmy Rashawn Raiford, 23, of Smithfield, and Marcus Dominque Faison, 20, of Four Oaks, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old Monteese Sharick Ray, of Clayton, in the death of Laboy. He is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Also arrested 29-year-old Marcellus Caryle Sinclair, also of Clayton. Sinclair faces two counts of attempted murder in the shootings of Raiford and Faison. Sinclair is being held on a $9 million bond.
