Vee Powers and her family are diehard Dallas Cowboys fans. She surprised her kids with a Dallas Cowboys package that included tickets to a game, a special hotel stay, tailgating, and much more.
But the trip wasn't all fun and games.
"When we got there it was a nightmare," Vee said.
It was not what they expected after paying close to $3,000 for the package. Vee bought the deal a year in advance from Maximum Sports Connection, and it was a Christmas present for the family.
"It was a year of anticipating such a good trip and it was very disappointing," Vee said.
After the family flew to Dallas, they tried to check into the hotel that was part of their package, but Vee said the hotel didn't have any reservations for them.
"We stood for 3 hours waiting and we still didn't know where they were going to put us," Vee said.
Vee pulled out her credit card and paid for the two-night stay at the official hotel of the Dallas Cowboys, despite it being part of the package she already paid for. Vee said a Maximum Sports Connection rep promised she would be reimbursed for the two-night stay.
After getting back home to Cary Vee waited for her refund of $350.
"I've got several emails saying it will be refunded, and still to this day I have not received anything," Vee said.
Now more than two years later and despite several emails confirming Vee would be refunded, she still has not received anything.
"It's not about the money anymore, it's about the principle, and I really hope other people don't have to go through this," Vee said.
I have reached out to Maximum Sports Connection several times, but no one has gotten back to me.
The best advice when booking these types of special packages is to research the company up front and see what others are saying about them. You are putting your trust in these companies as you pay everything up front and are relying that the tickets and reservations will be there when you arrive.
These packages are very popular with the Super Bowl, and every year I always hear from at least one viewer who buys a Super Bowl package online, only to get to the game and not have tickets. Doing research can help prevent this.
