Fund established for slain Garner parents

RALEIGH

On Thursday the Grenelle Street Golden Corral in Raleigh will host a fundraiser for the Mendoza family.

Jose and Maria Mendoza, both 34, were found shot to death in their home on Colonial Drive on early Saturday morning, while their 3-year-old son was inside the home. The couple also leaves behind a 12-year-old son.

Both Jose and Maria were long-time employees at the Grenelle Street Golden Corral. The restaurant will match all voluntary donations made at the store Thursday and contribute that amount directly to the fund established to help the couple's children.

Anyone who would like to help the family, but is unable to attend Thursday's fundraiser can drop off a financial donation at any Wells Fargo bank. The funds should be made payable to the Maria and Jose Mendoza fund.
