Wheelchair fan popular after NC State win

RALEIGH, N.C.

The 20th ranked the Wolfpack beat the Blue Devils 84-76.

After the win, NCSU fans rushed the court. One of the first in was NC State student Will Privette - in his wheelchair - who was also recording it all with the video camera in his cell phone.

Privette was soon crushed by the mob at center court.

"I got hit. The phone went out of my hands. The glasses flew off," he recalled

"I knew Will got hit because I had fallen over on one knee, and Rodney Purvis had fallen over on my side and Will was right there in front of me, knocked over," said NC State Student Body President Andy Walsh.

In the middle of the scrum, help came from nearly 7 feet above. NC State star player C.J. Leslie spotted Will and his wheelchair,

"He started pushing everyone away, saying get back, get back.  Once everyone realized what was going on, he just picked me up," said Privette.

Leslie hoisted Privette hoisted him high enough that will could safely see the celebration.

"He sat me down. And then someone handed me my phone. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was fine but then I noticed it had a little crack in it," said Privette.

It still works though - and it's been blowing up with messages since ESPN aired the video.

"Texts, calls, everything about interviews, all that crazy stuff.  From there it just took off," said Privette.

He's gained more than a thousand Twitter followers.

"Scott VanPelt from ESPN Tweeted me last night," said Privette.

Privette said he'll graduate this spring and hopes to land a job with Major League Baseball. His newfound fame may put him on the big leagues' radar.
