Bond denied for teens in Southpoint murder

DURHAM, N.C.

Nineteen-year-old Monquell Davis, 18-year-old Deshario Mitchell, 18-year-old Kadeem Johnson, all of Durham, are charged with murdering 24-year-old Brian Christopher Keys of Greensboro just before 1 p.m. in a shopping center across Fayetteville Road from the Streets at Southpoint mall.

Investigators said the trio knew Keys before the shooting. He was allegedly shot in a Jeep Liberty and then dumped in a store parking lot.

The shooters then took off. Police gave chase, and the Jeep crashed into two other vehicles before coming to a stop a short time later further down Fayetteville Road.

Family members told ABC11 that Davis and Mitchell were students at Riverside High School, but school officials said they were not enrolled at the time of the shooting. Johnson was enrolled at the Performance Learning Center.
