A Durham police officer was involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the officer was responding to a call with his marked cruiser's lights and sirens activated when he was struck by a car at the intersection of University Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway just after 4:30 p.m.

The officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution but police said he does not appear to have serious injuries.

The other driver was not injured.
