Daniel Leon Lauray Jr., 59, of Durham, was walking along University Drive near Forest Hills Boulevard when he was struck.
Investigators said Lauray was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said while the incident remains under investigation, they do not intend to file any charges against the driver.
