Officials at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base have been tight lipped so far about an investigation into the death of a 15-month-old.

According to a report in the Goldsboro News Argus, the son of an airman was discovered along the side of a road in Columbus County Tuesday afternoon.

ABC11 has confirmed that Senior Airman Matthew Theurer, 21, is in the Sampson County Jail charged with voluntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and murder.

Military investigators said the child was found wrapped in a bag and would not confirm if the baby is Theurer's pending DNA testing.

The sheriff's office said the body was found along NC 905 about 3/4 mile from Gore Chapel Rd. in Nakina.

Theurer lists his hometown as Portland, Indiana on his Facebook page which says he graduate high school in 2009.
