Heartbroken parents want justice for slain son

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C.

So far, no one has been arrested for Shawn Scott's death.

"He was with us 25 years and they just took him out of my life," said Ernestine Scott, Shawn's mother.

They are tears no mother should have to cry, and heartbreak no parent should feel.

"The kisses that he always gave his mom, the bear hugs that he always gave me, and I do not have that anymore," said Ernestine.

Shawn was gunned down 16 months ago. Family members believe he was the victim of a home invasion on Thanksgiving 2011.

Later that night, he was supposed to meet his fiancé and her family at the Walmart in Fuquay-Varina. However, he never showed, he never called or returned calls. Late that night, his fiancé returned to the home the two shared to find Shawn dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

"Some days are good. Some days are bad, but with the help of the Lord we get through," said Shawn's father, Perry Scott.

Harnett County Sheriff's detectives are still tracking leads, the family hopes a $5,000 reward will lead to an arrest, or someone having a change of heart.

"I believe there is somebody out there other than the person that did this who probably knows something," said Perry. "Just come forward."

It won't bring Shawn back, but it will ease the family's suffering.

"I am a mother without my son, and it's hard each and every day that I have to go through this," said Ernestine. "I would not want any mother to go through this."
