Tornado watch, severe thunderstorm watch in Ind.

Strong thunderstorms- with heavy rains, hail, high winds and even a tornado risk- hung over the Chicago area Wednesday.

"What we're expecting: multiple rounds of heavy thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds and even a tornado risk," ABC7 Meteorologist Mike Caplan said. "Drenching rains are already causing flooding problems.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect in northern Porter County, Ind. until 6 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, and Will counties in Illinois.

A tornado watch was issued at 4:35 p.m. and remains in effect until 12 a.m. Thursday for several counties in Indiana: Benton; Boone; Carroll; Cass; Clinton; Fountain; Fulton; Howard; Jasper; Kosciusko; Marshall; Miami; Montgomery; Newton; Parke; Pulaski; Starke; Tippecanoe; Tipton; Vermillion; Warren; White.

Even after the watch expires, the rain will continue. "We're not done with the rain," ABC7's Tracy Butler said. "Heavy rain is especially going to be with us tomorrow."

A Flood Watch is in effect in several counties, including Will, Cook, Lake, LaSalle, Kane and McHenry.
