A 9 year old was struck by a car in Durham Saturday, according to police.

According to eyewitnesses, the child's mother was attending a yard sale on Liberty Street around 12:38 p.m. when the boy ran out into the road.

"His body went in the air and that's what really shocked me," eyewitness Robert Smith said. "His lips were turning blue. His ears were turning blue, all that scratches on his face."

He was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries to his head and leg. He is listed in serious condition.

Officials have not said if the driver will be charged.
