Halifax County deputies said the woman was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend with a baseball bat Saturday night. She was taken to a trauma center, where she is listed in stable condition.
Her ex-boyfriend, 31-year-old Michael Scott Hamilton, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
He is being held without bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance this week. Officials said additional charges are pending.
