A Chicago police officer will receive a high honor from President Obama Saturday as part of an event to recognize the National Association of Police organization's Top Cops.

Chicago officer Del Pearson was shot in the line of duty in March last year.

He had surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his neck.

Also among today's honorees at the White House is Indiana State Police Trooper Eric Nash and Lieutenant Brian Murphy with Oak Creek, Wisconsin police for his actions during the shooting at a Sikh Temple last year.
