Fayetteville man charged in assault at gas station

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

Police responded to the BP Gas Station at 1899 Skibo Road on Saturday around 4 p.m.

Investigators said 29-year-old Christopher Thomas, got into a physical altercation with 50-year-old Darren Burgess. When the incident escalated, police said Burgess cut Thomas across the chest with a box cutter.

Thomas was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested Burgess at the scene.
