Authorities in Chatham County have found the body of a 50-year-old Siler City man who went missing while tubing with his family at Jordan Lake earlier this week.

Ricky Hill was tubing with his family Sunday afternoon when he ended up going underwater near the Vista Point boat ramp on North Pea Ridge Road in Pittsboro. Hill was not wearing a life jacket.

Crews searched the lake for days with sonar devices, dive teams and dogs, in an effort to find Hill. On Friday morning, authorities said a fisherman spotted his body.

Sgt. Reggie Barker, with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, said crews recovered Hill's body around 9:30 a.m.

Hill's family described the 50-year-old as a hard working man, who often came to the lake to go fishing, and who lived for his family.
