Friend: Murder victim deleted Facebook page because of ex-husband

RALEIGH

Almost four days have passed since 30-year-old Melissa Huggins-Jones was found murdered inside her apartment in the 400 block of Allister Drive.

Police still haven't said whether the crime was random.

The recently divorced mother of two moved to Raleigh two weeks ago from Tennessee.

A friend in Tennessee revealed that Huggins-Jones deleted her Facebook account three days before she was killed in an effort to keep her ex-husband from knowing about her movements.

Most of the crime scene tape that wrapped the apartment building off has now been removed. At least one policeman was still standing guard, however, at last check.

Police said they have increased patrols in the area.

Meanwhile, friends have set up a memorial Facebook page in Huggins-Jones' honor.
